Trump and women’s rights

Donald Trump is now president! 43 presidents have passed and Trump has got to be the most right wing, controversial president-elect that has been. The USA community will face many changes and one of the most significant and seemingly worrying is that of women rights. One of trump’s main idea is to ban abortion. The ban against Abortion has frequently been argued and strongly condemn by women. Although trump hasn’t directly said that he is opposed to the improvement of rights given to women in the USA, his tendency to make statements which can be interpreted as sexist suggest that his view on women coincides with previous generations, and he doesn’t wish to progress further the rights woman have in the USA. Trumps controversial support of the banning of abortion in the USA is one of the strongest examples that demonstrate Trump’s sexist drives. One of Trump’s most famous quotes was: Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president? I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?” — (September 2015, to Rolling Stone magazine about his then Republican primary rival Carly Fiorina.)           Does this suggests that new president of the United states of America is fundamentally sexist or was just propaganda for the election?

  1. Your point is a subjective opinion indeed. I like the way you have argued this. Trump does have a tendency to openly state his opinion, regardless of what it means to others. Every offensive comment that he has made since the 1980s has been recorded. He has been seen to objectify women, called them ‘ugly’ and seems to take a macho view of how things should be done, so he is rather traditional. In terms of women’s rights, I do believe that American women will not be the same, especially if he gets his way of banning abortion. Trump was pro-choice until he changed his opinions to suit the needs of the Republican Party.

I believe that the intention behind his sexist comments is propaganda, to meet what the Republican Party wants, but maybe he is himself sexist towards women. He did mention that if he was to ever run as President, it would be for the Republican Party, when he was not ever a supporter of them?

    What is your opinion?

  2. During his campaign Trump appealed to a very specific type of American, an American however that vastly occupied the entire nation. These are the standard proud americans who do not want to see their country fall “deeper” into “socialism” however i feel that with his comments on female equality are not aimed at the general public, but actually at those who handsome hatred towards Hillary, as he attempted to win by accessing the publics emotions, as opposed to their brains. seemingly, it has worked. it will be an interesting next 4 years
